D'Arenberg Laughing Magpie 2001
Rich, inky dark wine. Intense blueberry and spicy pepper notes on the nose. Tarry and tannic on the palate, with a little heat marring the finish. Typical sipping wine -- not really built for dining. YMMV. Two and a half stars out of five.

Penfolds Grange 2001
Seductive and graceful. Dark purple color, with blueberry, raspberry and pepper on the nose. A bottle of this would be great to drink now -- I wonder what it would be like tomorrow. Four out of five stars (saying a lot, given the high price).
